What We Offer

Work life balance at its best

Karuna-maya Medicine is a general practice in Jan Juc, a small rural coastal community around 30 minutes from Geelong. They have been providing general practice and allied health services to the surf coast region. RWAV has been supporting the practice over the years with placing health professionals and supporting them to pursue professional development and training. Eight years ago, RWAV placed a locum at the practice and they have stayed on as a GP supporting the community of Jan Juc.

“We have been able to continue to deliver services for over 20 years and rely on RWAV to support us and the community into the future with general practitioners, nurses and allied health” said Jen Flakemore, the Practice Manager at Karuna-maya. RWAV grants and scholarships continue to extend their range of services and keeps their practitioners at the forefront of professional development.

“RWAV have always been great to deal with. Professional and caring with the added bonus of understanding rural practices and communities and what they need to help them fulfil their potential” she said.

Being a rural practice enables them to build strong connections with local communities and develop generational relationships with local families. Some of the benefits of a rural practice is the ability to go for a walk along the beach at lunchtime and meander home with no concern about peak hour traffic ensuing a perfect work life balance.

“Even though we live and work in a beautiful part of the world we still have difficulty in attracting practitioners who want to work in a rural setting. RWAV understands the difficulties and has years of experience in helping practices to recruit permanent and locum staff with the understanding that other organisations may not have. RWAV make it easy and the support is great” said Jen, looking forward to continuing to work with RWAV into the future.
