The Rural Locum Relief Program (RLRP) is no longer taking applications. It has been replaced by the More Doctors for Rural Australia Program (MDRAP).
Existing RLRP participants may continue on the program until the end of their placement.
The legislation that provides RLRP participants with access to Medicare will not be withdrawn until existing doctors has exhausted their time on the program, achieve general practice fellowship or transition to a Fellowship pathway.
There is no requirement for RLRP participants to move to other 3GA programs, for example, MDRAP or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) Independent Pathway (IP).
For RLRP doctors that choose to apply for MDRAP
MDRAP supports non-vocationally recognised (non-VR) doctors to gain valuable general practice experience in rural and remote communities prior to joining a college fellowship pathway.
To find out more about MDRAP or your eligibility for the programs please refer to the MDRAP guidelines or, please get in touch with us now or phone 03 9349 7800 (Option 3 and then select option 2).
