The Victorian RHW Census 2022 has now been launched and EOI to participate must be registered between now and 23 September 2022.
The Victorian RHW Census, an initiative of the RWAV, is a significant statewide effort to utilise the most up-to-date data to transform the future of health care in regional Victoria.
Rural health care in Victoria has many issues and challenges, but the most notable are the perennial shortages of GPs and healthcare professionals, as well as the maldistribution of health services throughout regions. The RHW Census is designed to enable better informed decisions that improve health care and equity for people living and working in rural and regional Victoria.
The Victorian RHW Census will capture the skills, workforce sustainability and access to health professionals in rural, remote and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Victoria. It will help define the short- to long-term future health workforce support and skills required to meet community needs, design workforce strategies and build a better future for rural communities.
To make a truly meaningful impact on the future of health care in rural Victoria, we need to gain a holistic view of the state of the health workforce throughout Victoria. It’s only through measured, accurate and holistic information that sound decisions can be made about allocating adequate funds, programs and services to effectively support health care in rural regional Victoria.
