ROLE: Locum required to cover leave at this well-established friendly group practice. Standard GP sessions with option to be included in on-call roster, however this is not essential. 


ROLE: The team of this accredited practice would like to extend a warm invitation to any doctors aspiring to work in rural general practice. The clinic has been servicing the community of Castlemaine for 40 years and has been a student and registrar training facility for the last 35. 


See a movie at the historic Theatre Royal or opt for something a little louder. Castlemaine’s Theatre Royal has seen a long list of international acts perform including the Brian Jonestown Massacre, Cat Power, Joan as Policewoman, You Am I, Sun Kil Moon, Billy Bragg, Kurt Vile, Arj Barker and Ross Noble. See a gig and walk home.

Castlemaine is a foodie town. You are spoilt for choice with over 30 options that range from Good Food Guide rated fine dining to Fitzroy-esque pub meals like at The Bridge Hotel to the highly-rated Naam Pla Thai.

If you have a sweet tooth, don’t miss Peddling Pastry who specialise in diet-breaking baked goods. If coffee is your thing, Castlemaine has you covered with many options. Check out the Viennese coffee house Das Kaffeehaus run by Austrian couple Edmund Schaerf and Elna Schaerf-Trauner. Throw into that mix Shedshaker Brewing, Boomtown Winemakers Co-op, and Bress Wine, Cider and Produce and you will never want to leave.

For your career

The practice is a fully accredited and teaching practice for the medical schools of Melbourne and Monash Universities. Housed in a beautiful building on the main street, the practice has nine consulting rooms and a treatment room. Doctors are supported by highly experienced practice manager, part-time nurses, chronic disease and mental health nurse and reception staff.

The clinic provides services to patients of every age category from families to the elderly. Doctors have admitting rights to the Castlemaine Health public hospital and also attend to patients in the nursing home units and hostels at the Castlemaine Health site.
