RWAV to Manage over $3.8 M Incentives Program to Boost Regional Mental Health Workforce in Victoria.
RWAV, the Rural Workforce Agency Victoria, is set to administer the Regional Mental Health Workforce Incentives program with $3.865M in funding to boost mental health in rural and regional Victoria.
This week, the Minister for Mental Health, Gabrielle Williams, unveiled the Regional Mental Health Workforce Incentives program, which aims to attract and retain workers in rural and regional Victoria.
The Regional Mental Health Workforce Incentives program aims to attract workers from metropolitan Melbourne, interstate and overseas, offering flexible grants of up to $20,000 to support costs such as accommodation, relocation, childcare, school fees and vehicle costs. Unlike other Grants we manage, this Incentive program is for organisations to apply, rather than individuals.
This important and this much needed program delivers on the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System which highlighted significant workforce gaps in rural and regional areas.
We, at RWAV, are super excited about it. This critical funding will enable us to utilize RWAV’s expertise in healthcare recruitment, vacancy marketing and, our relationships and collaboration with key organisations in rural and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander rural healthcare.
RWAV will be able to provide around 200 grants for workers in Area Mental Health Services and up to 80 grants for community managed mental health services, with extra $300,000 funding a pilot a similar program for the AOD workforce
