On Monday 29th April 2019, Optometrists Lucy Ainge and Jac Kirkman presented on behalf of RWAV and the Visiting Optometrists Scheme (VOS) program at the CPD seminar organised by Optometry Victoria. The seminar was hosted by Deakin University at their Geelong Campus and was attended by over 80 participants. Lucy and Jac shared their positive experiences of providing outreach services at the Lorne Community Hospital under the VOS program and encouraged those attending the seminar to consider participating in the service. This was followed by an in-depth and informative presentation by guest speaker Tim Fricke regarding the trends in myopia epidemiology and the range of myopia management options.
The seminar was also a great opportunity for staff members from RWAV’s Outreach team to meet the Optometrists providing the VOS outreach visits and speak with students and professionals working in the field interested in outreach programs funded through RWAV.
